In Urgent Care at the Dorchester House, you can get same-day treatment for illnesses or conditions that aren’t life-threatening, but need attention right away. Urgent Care also serves as an entryway to our healthcare home for members of our community who do not yet have a Primary Care Provider (PCP).
You should make an appointment with your Primary Care Physician for routine physicals, visits for ailments that do not need to be addressed the same day as they occur, lab tests, x-rays, illness and injury and preventive medical care.
When you are sick or injured, it is always a good idea to try to reach your provider. However, if your provider isn’t available or if you don’t know what to do, call the Health Center’s main number at (617) 288-3230 and speak with one of our staff. Depending on your symptoms the staff member may:
- Advise you to go straight to the hospital emergency room
- Advise you to come to Urgent Care
- Schedule you for an appointment with your provider
Part of our new renovation is going towards making our Urgent Care center larger and more flexible for patients. We will be able to handle more inquiries in a quicker time, which puts us closer to our goal of becoming a Patient-Centered Medical Home. To learn more about this renovation, click here.
