Be sure to arrive 15 minutes early to allow time to fill out paperwork and sign in at our registration desk.

Where do I go for my appointment?

Come to 1353 Dorchester Avenue Dorchester, MA. You can find directions here. Registration takes place at the respective departments, so be sure to ask at the front desk where you should go.

What if I need to be seen the same day?

Call (617) 288-3230 and explain your medical situation. If your provider is unable to see you, the staff will arrange for you to be seen by another member of your medical team or for you to be seen in Urgent Care.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?

Please call us at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot make your appointment. Also, please let us know if you are running late. Remember, you must show up to your appointment at least 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment time.

When do I hear about test results?

A member of your medical team will contact you if your test results indicate a need for follow-up treatment. You will usually not be contacted if test results are normal. However, you are always welcome to inquire about test results by contacting the department. You are also encouraged to follow up with your provider if you have any questions about your results.

How do I fill a prescription?

Your provider will give you a written prescription that you can take to the pharmacy. If you know the telephone number of your pharmacy, you can also get your prescription called in.

Check with your insurance company to see if your prescriptions are covered by your policy. If they are, you may be restricted to certain pharmacies and you may need to make a co-payment.

What if I need laboratory services, X-rays, a mammogram or ultrasound?

The Dorchester House maintains a full-service laboratory, x-ray department, mammography services and ultrasound services. This means that when your provider requests laboratory work (such as blood or urine samples), x-rays, a mammogram or ultrasound, you can get the services right here. Once you check in with the laboratory or x-ray technician, your tests will be performed.

How do I see a specialist?

Before making an appointment to see a specialist, you should get a referral from your provider. Many insurance companies will not pay for a specialist unless your provider has first referred you to the specialist. Check your insurance plan for terms of coverage.

Are food stamps accepted at the farmer’s market?

Yes, we accept EBT cards and reward them a 50% discount when they are redeemed here.

Do you have programs for school-age children or a summer camp?
