FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I am very concerned about my child’s health but the health center is closed. Who can I call?

When the health center is closed, please call 617-288-3230 and our night time answering service will take your call. A nurse service or one of our doctors will return your call very shortly. They will discuss the situation with you and decide if your child must go to an emergency room or if they can wait to see a doctor the next day.

My child requires urgent care. Can I walk-in for an appointment?

Please call the Pediatric Nurse Line at 617-740-2445. A nurse will identify a time for your child to come in for an appointment that day with their primary care provider. If your primary care provider is unavailable that day, we will schedule an appointment for you with another provider. If you walk-in to our Urgent Care Department with your child, our staff will direct you to our Pediatrics Department on the 2nd floor. There, our registration staff will work to schedule an appointment for you that day.

Do I need to accompany my child during an appointment?

Yes, a child must be accompanied by a parent/guardian during their appointment. If your child is scheduled for an appointment in our Adolescent Clinic, we will ask the parent/guardian to leave the exam room during the visit.

How old are pediatric patients?

Generally, the Pediatrics Department serves all patients under 22 years of age.
