
Dental Assistant

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Oral Health, the Dental Assistant is responsible for coordinating the clinical area and assisting the dentist in the delivery of dental patient care of pediatric, adolescent and adult patients by assisting with chair side procedures, including radiology, sterilization, infection control, medical records, maintenance and inventory.
Education & Qualification
- An On-the-Job Trained (OJT) Dental Assistant in the state of Massachusetts must be trained in the dental office under the supervision of a licensed dentist. A minimum of a high school diploma is required and a letter documenting such training has occurred. OR
- To qualify as a Formally Trained Dental Assistant (FTDA), one must:
- Successfully complete a dental assisting program of not less than one year, for dental assistants accredited or recognized by: Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) OR New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) OR Meets the standards of the Massachusetts Department of Education
- Current BLS/CPR
- Documentation of completion of radiology certification or equivalent
- Documentation of completed courses on CDC guidelines and OSHA standards
- Current registration with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Dentistry, once required
- Min of 0-3 years of clinical dentistry experience
